Glass Recycling

Melton Waste can help with your glass recycling requirements. Bars, restaurants and pubs alone throw away approximately 600,000 tonnes of glass each year, not considering the amount contributed by households and other businesses. This is increasing the amount of waste we currently send to landfill in the UK.

Recycling prevents this distribution to landfill waste, and instead recycles discarded glass to provide a cheaper and more environmentally friendly alternative material. Glass can be recycled endlessly with no loss in purity or quality. In 2018, 31.3% of glass food & drink packaging containers were recycled. In some places like California, glass bottle recycling reaches over 80%! Source

How is glass used after recycling?

Recycled glass can be found in a wide range of products including water filtration, fibreglass insulation, and aggregates. By collectively reusing our discarded glass products this way, we’re able to reduce our carbon footprint. By simply recycling our glass we can reduce non-renewable fossil fuel usage and reduce the emissions of CO2 from processing carbonate raw materials such as limestone. Source

The consumer market has benefited greatly from recycled glass as the ideal source for a thicker and smoother composite, ideal for manufacturing – a benefit not many people had considered.

And so, with the demand for recycled glass on the rise, our service aims to provide a high-quality recycling scheme that provides an affordable segregation process to turn your old and discarded glass into something useful.
